Choreographed by Alito Alessi and Karen Nelson in 1984. In 2018 it was reset by Alito Alessi in Minneapolis, a city well known for dance, featuring 8 students from UMN Dance Program.

Trio is an original composition set to the music of J.S. Bach. The piece was choreographed by the Founder and Artistic Director of DanceAbility International, Alito Alessi. Trio is but one of a number of pieces set to the music of Bach, which were performed during an evening-length concert which was the signature performance for the 2019 Oregon Bach Festival held in Eugene, Oregon.

Don’t Leave Me explores our dependence on each other and how space determines action and vice versa. The 8 dancers play with how choices and structures constrict or how they can open opportunities for collaborative creativity. Choreographer and Guggenheim Fellow Alito Alessi’s mixed-abilities work is renown worldwide. The sets and movement were reciprocally designed with the dancers with and without disabilities. The sets were designed by Frances Bronet and the Design in Movement team of Univ. of Oregon School of Architecture. The piece changes perspectives on disabilities and on interactions with space and design, as choices within various configurations of wooden cubes unfold in real time

In this world premiere, DanceAbility International collaborates with the University of Oregon's School of Architecture and Allied Arts, featuring top contemporary dancers from Eugene, the University of Oregon, Lane Community College, and the Shedd Institute.

DanceAbility International is a nonprofit organization established in 1987 in Eugene Oregon. DanceAbility's mission is to encourage the evolution of mixed-abilities dance by cultivating a common ground for creative expression for all people. The mission is accomplished through performance, educational programs, teacher training and workshops. The work of DanceAbility International helps decrease prejudice and misconceptions about diversity in the field of dance, and by extension in society. Alito Alessi performs with DanceAbility's principal dancer, Emery Blackwell. Emery is a dancer, choreographer, musician, composer, and teacher. He has cerebral palsy, and has been involved in promoting civil and human rights for many years. Emery is retiring this year so this will be one of his final performances with DanceAbility.
